Our Federation Lunch 2018
This is why I belong to the WI. Hartburn do many interesting things and I enjoyed reading this.
The WI started in Anglesey, where I live and each area are part of a Federation. A bit like a mother and all her kittens really!
Putting on a lunch with a speaker is a lovely idea. And if you read the original post, very enjoyable too!
Once again our annual Federation lunch did not disappoint ! Heading off to the beautiful Wynyard Hall in glorious Spring sunshine, 22 of our ladies had the opportunity for a little retail therapy before sitting down to a sumptuous three-course lunch. We were spoilt for choice with jewellery made from hand-painted silk, chocolates, hand-made cards, stained glass sculptures and hand-sewn goods to name but a few, and we all enjoyed chatting to youngsters from Egglescliffe School who were selling goods to fund a trip to Borneo !
Lunch included a colourful fruit salad starter, roast chicken breast with mushroom and seasonal vegetables and a vanilla cheesecake with Summer berries. Yum !
The highlight of the afternoon was the entertaining speech from former British diplomat and author Jean Harrod. Having joined the Foreign Office at the tender age of 18, Jean went on to travel the world and become one…
