Karen’s Book Review
If you have been following this blog, you will know I have been struggling to find a good book to read. After two that were disappointing, this was the third. It had its good and bad points, and although I read it, it wasn’t as satisfying as I would have liked.
This author had a nice way with words and some of them really stuck a chord. I’ve included them at the bottom. It was romance in a Cinderella kind of way. I like the idea of reworking fairy tales. The story itself was good, but as it reached the end, it became confusing. One of the two main characters was called Pax. When towards the end was Princeton used and I thought I had missed something. It was only later it became clear Pax’s full name was Princeton. I then checked out the reviews, and other people also found it confusing. The book also needed a proof-reader to pick up the errors. There were some repeated words and one had a symbol instead of an s. It didn’t effect the story, but it is better not to have them in the first place.
The climax of the book, wasn’t explained very well. Although I did like the beginning and middle. The characters were good and it was entertaining.
However, the end went straight into erotica and it was disappointing. It would have been far more enjoyable had they slipped into romance in the bedroom. The details of what they did were not needed. It didn’t enhance the story, and if anything, spoilt it.
I am so frustrated with books at the moment, and think maybe my mistake is going for short reads that are just romantic suspense. I need more than just boy meets girl. I want intrigue and adventure with romance and danger. Perhaps I should look for a thriller?
My next books is by Christie Stratos and is called The Artist. My review will follow this one..
