Karen’s Chat – Book Adverts that Stop You in your Tracks!

This came up in my feed. First I noticed how it said the name of one of my friends but mainly because the picture really drew me in, then I read the blurb.

This is the full book description.

Code blue in the ER. That’s how I end up in his hospital. In my brother’s best friend’s care.

Dr. Blake Morrison starred in every fantasy I’ve had since sixteen. Now he’s the only one who believes something’s truly wrong with me—the only one who can save me.

But with each passing day, each failed diagnosis, I see him changing. The brilliant, controlled doctor is becoming something else. Something darker. More possessive.

“These symptoms aren’t random,” he growls. “I think someone’s hurting you deliberately. And when I find them…” His fingers clench. “They’ll learn exactly how much damage a doctor can do.”

His touch sets my heart monitor racing, and what’s growing between us is more dangerous than any symptom. More forbidden than any diagnosis.

But as my mysterious illness worsens, will the man who’s saved countless lives lose the only one he can’t live without?

I’d never heard of this author, and I came across the post while struggling to find something I wanted to read. Having just finished a post-apocalyptic book, I wanted a dangerous romance. Although I downloaded one, a few chapters in I could already tell it wasn’t for me.

Crash was in Kindle Unlimited, which was a bonus, but at 425 pages it felt too big for me.

I wanted a book like this, which I absolutely loved.

But the second one in the series doesn’t come out until June, and after getting fed up looking for something similar, I went back to Crash.

Wow. Just wow. A big, sexy male lead, a strong-minded heroine, a brilliant plot, romantic tension, plenty of conflict and humour. It also had beautiful, heartfelt writing and steamy scenes without any crudeness or cringe-worthy wording.

Then, when I went back to grab the blurb, I realised it was part of a series and, although I haven’t checked yet, I think each book might focus on one of Blake’s friends.

Do you ever discover a new author, get excited, and want to tell everyone about them? It can’t just be me!
