Stay Silent by Keeley Webb

I’ve had this on my Kindle for a while and can’t remember where I first saw it. As I enjoy zombie apocalypse stories and the blurb sounded good, it immediately appealed to me. However, I kept putting off reading it because I disliked the cover. Eventually, I decided it was time to either read it or get rid of it.

I’m so pleased I chose to read it because this is a classy, well-written story. It’s extremely well thought out and definitely not the traditional zombie story you might expect.

Told in the first person by Kayla, the story begins with her and her sister out Christmas shopping when everything suddenly kicks off. From then on, it’s fast-paced and gripping. I loved the main characters and really connected with them through Kayla’s perspective.

I thoroughly enjoyed it because it’s one of those stories you completely lose yourself in. Added to that, it didn’t go the way I expected. The only thing I wasn’t keen on was the ending. It felt unfinished, as though there was a whole new story waiting to be told.

The book was only published in January, so there could well be a book two. If there is, I’ll definitely want to read it!

If you’re not fast, you’re dead.

Nothing could have prepared Kayla and Cristy for the carnage they faced. Their perfect Christmas shopping plans were destroyed in an instant by the Christmas outbreak.

The news reported it as a flu epidemic, but it’s much worse. They were lucky to escape with their lives.

Now, they live in fear, hunted and hidden, trying to stay alive.
The infected are more than just fast, rage-filled once-human creatures; as they evolve, they have many different ways to seek out survivors, leaving the sisters to question how much longer they can remain hidden from these perfect predators.

How much will they suffer? Is it inevitable that they will become one of the creatures relentlessly hunting them?
