Where did I find it: I saw the image below on Facebook and it attracted me.
What I liked: all of it! The shock of finding out who Beatrix bumps into at the pub they both worked at; how their blossoming relationship would take them on an enlightening journey and finally, the secrets they were forced to keep, along with the knowledge that when revealed it would be painful beyond words. I hadn’t read the description of this book before I read it. All I knew when I downloaded it was the main character Beatrix, who was Tom’s friend in Chasing the Sunrise. On reading it now, it gives away nothing. So this story is full of surprises, and shocks.
What I didn’t like: the heartbreak that some people are forced to endure alone. The sadness some people carry and the message that we should think before we judge people.
Overall: this third book and it ramps up the emotions of the readers through the lives of the characters. For me, there is one stand out scene that will stay with me long after closing the final page. It happens in Llandudno, a seaside town not far from where I live. Beatrix’s boyfriend finally reveals his dark secret to her. It’s a heart rendering shock I hadn’t expected, even though readers, along with Beatrix, will have been waiting for this revelation. This is a stunning series beautifully written and will leave its mark on every reader.
This book is the third book of The Colwich Lake Series.
