Castle on the Hill by TS Arthur

Friendships forged at school can last well into adulthood and have a profound influence on our lives. This book follows five friends, but if you’re looking for a warm, supportive circle of lifelong companions, this isn’t it.

The story begins during their school years, and it soon becomes increasingly apparent that this is far from a happy friendship. Each of the protagonists carries their own emotional baggage, and those issues only deepen as they reach adulthood.

When one of them is murdered, the story quickly reels you in, and uncovering the killer is far from easy. The mystery grows more compelling as we learn more about each character, because every one of them has secrets and motives that could make them capable of murder.

Yes, I did guess the culprit in the end, but it certainly wasn’t easy. Even then, I wasn’t completely sure until the truth was finally revealed.

I thoroughly enjoyed this story because it was quite different from what I expected. I’ve read several books by this author, and I love the variety of genres she writes.

I highly recommend Castle on the Hill if you enjoy intriguing characters, an absorbing storyline, and a cleverly twisted mystery.

How much can you trust your friends?

High school is hard, but with a good friendship circle, it can be much easier. Five friends, Jer, Kaleb, Greg, Mads, and Jess, find a way to cement their bond in more than just experience.

However, when one of them is found dead, the threads of friendship start to fray. Fractures that had always been there grow deeper and soon they’re fearing for their lives.

Can they find the killer before they all perish, or is their bond doomed to end in death?

Castle on the Hill is a standalone suspense novel. It contains elements of mental health struggles, murder, and violent scenes. Set in the UK, it’s a fast-paced lesson in what happens when friendships go wrong.
