I hadn’t expected this to be a full-length novel, as the first book was shorter and perfectly formed. This one, however, was much longer and exceptionally good.
The romance was unlike anything I’ve read before, and that’s what sets this author apart for me. It makes you think about what it truly means to love a man. With the dual points of view, we come to understand Beast, a gruff man who says very little, yet whose actions speak volumes.
Larkin has her own story too, and we learn just enough about her to see why she is such a good match for Beast. They are both people of few words, and their shared silences say more than conversations ever could.
We never really discover what happened to the man who came to the compound, other than that he was dealt with. I understood, though, that this book was really about a man and a woman learning how to be together.
I loved the setting, with the Sons of Havoc and their clubhouse. It was full of interesting characters, tough-looking men who belonged to a biker club. Little by little, we discover just how deceptive appearances can be.
This was a wonderful story that I thoroughly enjoyed.

He carries a past soaked in guilt. She carries scars no one sees. Together, they might just save each other.
Beast never talks about the night that changed everything, the crash, the blood, the friend he couldn’t save. It was supposed to be buried in the past, locked away with the rest of his demons. But when a ghost from that night comes back for revenge, it’s Bishop who pays the price.
Run off a desolate road and left for dead, Beast is pinned beneath his bike, bleeding, broken, and alone. Until Larkin.
Loyal. Quiet. Stronger than she looks. She stays. She fights for him. Even when the cops ask questions. Even when it puts a target on her back.
As Beast struggles to recover, haunted, scarred, and convinced no one could love what’s left of him, Larkin refuses to leave. Even when he tries to push her away.
She sees something he doesn’t.
She sees the man beneath the wreckage.
But the past isn’t done with them yet. And the road to healing might just lead them straight into hell.
