Yes, I know it’s a strange subject, especially coming from someone like me who isn’t a sports fan and knows little about it. What I do know is that it’s becoming more popular. Last night, there was a feature on the BBC’s The One Show, which highlighted its growing appeal, particularly after a recent TV series called Heated Rivalry. I’ve heard people talk about it in hushed, almost reverent tones.
Because I’m not a fan, I’ve always been reluctant to read any kind of sports romance. Then it occurred to me that I’ve actually read two ice hockey romances in recent months and enjoyed them.
Both stories focused on the relationships between the main characters, with the sport itself providing an engaging backdrop. So if, like me, you’re not a sports enthusiast, all I’m saying is that you shouldn’t dismiss them. You might be pleasantly surprised.

Coming from Canada, everyone talks hockey!! I’m not into sports so I was the odd one out.

It just wasn’t a thing here at all. We’d have been hard pressed to name a team. Slowly though, it’s becoming a popular sport.
