Karen’s Chat – I am so Excited!

Well… I’m absolutely thrilled today, and I have to tell you why.

If you follow my blog and my book reviews, you might have noticed that I’ve been steadily making my way through the DCI Harry Grimm crime thrillers. They’re written by David J. Gatward, and I’ve just finished book 23. Yes, twenty-three! At this point I practically feel like an honorary member of the Yorkshire police force.

These are crime thrillers set in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales – full of police work, murder, mystery, and everything you’d expect from the genre. But two things really set them apart. First, the stunning countryside. You almost feel like you’re walking the hills yourself (minus the dead bodies, thankfully). Second, and most importantly, the humour. There’s a deliciously odark wit running through the books, with plenty of genuine laugh-out-loud moments.

David J. Gatward is a hugely popular author, and each of his books has thousands and thousands of reviews. I also listen to the audiobooks, brilliantly narrated by Aubrey Parsons. He brings the characters to life so vividly that Harry and the rest of the team feel like people you know. Honestly, his voice is Harry Grimm. He’s just as brilliant as the author.

So why am I so excited today?

Because my review of the latest book was seen by him… and he commented on it!

And if that wasn’t exciting enough, Aubrey Parsons commented as well.

I’m utterly thrilled. This has never happened to me before and it completely made my day. I may or may not have done a small happy dance around the kitchen.
