A wonderful 4 star read!
This is not my usual type of book, but I’m always open to read something different occasionally.
I’d read several of Ann Brooke’s short reads and really enjoyed her style of writing This new release piqued my interest.
It’s a nice change to have older ladies who still enjoy life to the fullest as the main protagonists a story.
I loved how each of them had their own paragraph so we could get to know them better.
Selina, I particularly enjoyed the way she used colours and saw the them all around her. Her vibrant personality. Her happy optimistic outlook on life was great.
Dorothea, the complete opposite in every way, but even as an introvert her life was just as interesting as it gave her pleasure.
Finally, Lenora, the only one married. Reading that her relationship wasn’t what she thought brought a new aspect to the story.

This book is also standalone. The storyline and excellent plot is this:
The lives of prime-time friends Leonora, Selena and Dorothea are about to take a very interesting turn.
Leonora discovers her husband is having an affair and struggles to come to terms with this crushing blow. Selena is about to meet the love of her life but is utterly unprepared for the heartbreak it might bring. Finally, Dorothea’s beloved career is under threat, but her job is the only way she can make sense of herself and she can’t see a future without it.
Can the three friends support each other through life’s challenges, and is there the slightest chance of a happy outcome for any of them?

My Favourite Bits
“You can see them?” Selena asked pointlessly. “Really see them?” Both twins nodded. “Oh,” said Selena, unsure what to do. This had never happened before in her entire life. She had no idea how to respond.
“Leonora,” he said, half-turning towards her. “I want to say that I’m really so incredibly sorry for the way everything has happened this year and how very badly – appallingly in all honesty – I’ve dealt with it.
“What are you going to do?” Dorothea asked her brother. She’d thought of a hundred things she had wanted to say to him when she’d been planning this meeting. But, after his words, none of them were relevant.
