Where Rivers Meet by P. J. Roscoe
Paranormal story set in Beddgelert, North Wales.
Premise: This a romance story set in a small Welsh village nestled in the mountains of Snowdonia. It mixes the present day and the 19th century. The author manages to capture the beauty of the countryside with an intriguing storyline.
Anything Else: I read where Rivers Meet when it was first published in 2019. It captured my imagination with likable characters, a mystery, and ghostly goings on. It’s one of those books that has stayed with me a long after I’ve read it. Beddgelert village is one I’ve visited many times and it’s every bit as beautiful as described.
About the area: A place of outstanding national beauty draws in tourists from all over the world. The River Glaslyn runs under a stone-built bridge and the village green completes the idyllic picture. Beyond the mountains are deep mines, and they play an important part in the story.
One of the best-known, and most loved, folktales in Wales is the story of a faithful hound called Gelert who belonged to Prince Llywelyn the Great in the thirteenth century. There is a mound and monument to this faithful dog for his bravery, and visited regularly by tourists who seek it out.
