I recently reviewed the first book of the series, Invasion. It was so good I had to move on to this, the second book.
The family from the first story have now reached their destination, a bunker hidden below the house. Meyer, the father, had built in case of an emergency, but none suspected that it would be alien invasion..
I liked the characters and all the different viewpoints. Facing the unknown is a frightening experience and it kept me turning the pages. However, the story turned bizarre with thoughts becoming jumbled and no one, including me, knew what the voices in their heads were real.
Overall, I don’t feel it held the promise of the first book. Contact felt long winded and parts of it jarred because it felt unconnected to the plot. Although there was a lot to like, it doesn’t inspire me to read the next book.
