100 Word Story #16 Tearing Paper by Anna Walner

The #100wordstory is just that, exactly one hundred words long.

If you have a story that fits this criteria. Email me, I would love to feature you.

Tearing Paper

Seasons change outside the window to my room, swirling leaves ushering in the sweet smell of fall. This place isn’t so bad once you get used to it. The voices in my head keep me company most days. And then of course, there’s Max.

Two voices raise high in the day room at Westbrook Pines, our heads snap in the direction, but it’s only Hazel. Poor sweet Hazel, broken down by the years in here.

We know how to stay sane inside our own minds. Speaking without words, breathing in the smell of each other. Together alone, inside these walls.
