Karen’s Magic Review
I didn’t realise this was erotica when I bought it, but as long as it is written well, I don’t mind. There was an interesting beginning of how Jeza inherited her beautiful house from her grandfather and it also told the story of her grandmother and how she came to open the bookshop. As nice as that detail was, it didn’t have any bearing on the story to merit that much detail. It made me wonder if this was part of a bigger story.
However, I liked the way the author writes, she has a nice style. Her hero, Jackson Stone was handsome and confident and she managed to pack a lot into it as well as keeping the overall plot line simple.
What I liked best:
The length. It could be read within a couple of hours and that suited me. Barbara Chioffi writes well and although I found some flaws in the story, I did enjoy it. I liked the way the two main characters opened up to one another about their past heartbreak. It was like a story within a story. I particularly like the way Jackson’s pet name for her was also the title to the book.
And the rest:
I found Jackson a little overbearing and a little too confident at times. When he first comes to her cabin with sex on his mind, I felt a little uncomfortable as he held her down, and later threw her over his shoulder to take her to the bedroom. For a moment, I wondered if he was a sex attacker and forcing Jeza to bend to his will. I think the author intended him to be masterful and luckily it isn’t long before its clear that Jezza wanted him too.
