Tower by Claire Kent

My Review

What a lovely story this was! It was everything I enjoy most.

😍 single point of view

😍 strong masculine hero

😍 feisty pretty girl

😍 rescue situations

😍 motorbike club

😍 post apocalyptic

😍 novella length

😍 great writing

😍 sweet romance

The relationship between the two main characters was touching. As the story was told from a single point of view, Hailey’s, it made Levi all the more mysterious.

Another aspect that appealed to me was the twenty-year age gap. It was mentioned subtly throughout, and I rather liked that.

Poor Hailey, she was in a terrible situation. Her father had died, and she was completely alone in the world. After the comet hit, the world had become a dangerous place, and those who survived were forced to live very different lives. It was especially hard for a woman on her own.

Hailey asks Levi, a man she doesn’t know, if he can look after her. In return, she promised to take care of him in whatever way he wanted. It’s an odd request, but when backed into a corner, there was very little choice.

As Levi and Hailey grow together, this beautiful story begins to bloom. I loved the way it slowly unfolded, with dangers and misunderstandings happening frequently.

This story is a perfect blend of survival in a world that has shut down, while still showing that love can bloom even in the bleakest circumstances.

A must-read for any romance/post-apocalyptic lover like me.

Book Blurb and Link

She needs a man to keep her alive in a world full of monsters.

He’ll do.

Ever since the world fell apart, I’ve been like a princess trapped in a tower, looking down at our chaotic new reality from an upstairs window and never allowed to risk the dangers outside. Then my father dies, and there’s no one left to keep me safe from selfish, violent men no longer restrained by social boundaries.

I need someone, and the leader of the local gang is my best choice.

Rough and intimidating, he’s no prince. But Levi agrees to keep me safe, and I do my best to keep him happy. Maybe I want more than a transactional relationship, but the world after Impact doesn’t allow for romantic daydreams.

Life is now a gritty fairy tale without a happily ever aft
