When Sons of Anarchy first hit our screens, I loved it. Part way through it became more violent and I couldn’t watch anymore.

The thing I loved most was the romance between Jax and Tara. It captured my imagination and that’s when I discovered motorcycle club romance in fiction. I’ve read a few over the years, and most I couldn’t finish – until now.

I wanted something dark, with everything you’d expect from MC fiction, but without the graphic details. That book didn’t seem to exist – until now.

Claire Shaw’s Bishop, has a broody darkness with undercurrents running throughout. It’s not explicit, but, oh, it’s there all right – subtle and engaging, whispering to you from the pages.

Bishop Black is the ultimate male protagonist. Strong and silent, a protecter of what’s his, and that includes Ivy Rose. I found myself constantly returning to the front cover to stare at the image on the front.

The story begins with the promise of something special and delivers spectacularly. Will they or won’t they is the theme – and of course you know they will. It’s the getting there that fills your soul with the love of a good book.

Claire Shaw’s way with words is magical. Different. Poignant. Wonderful. She doesn’t need to fill the paragraphs with constant swear words. She uses her skill to weave you into the story with a gift of emotive statements.

The thing that caught my attention the most, was how it’s set in a small American town on the edge of a desert – and written by a Yorkshire lass! That made me chuckle. You’d never guess!

Claire Shaw is a new to me author. I saw Bishop advertised on Instagram, and was drawn in by the blurb. I expected to be disappointed, I wasn’t.
