I want You Back by Sophie Toovey.

I found Sophie on Instagram and she describes herself as ‘Not Sweet. Not spicy. Just real. Kisses.’ As I was a bit fed of spicy, and wanted sweet, but not twee, it sounded like it could be okay.

OKAY?! It was more than ok. I loved this story. It was simply a right good tale!

We follow Amber through college, into work and onto life. She meets Charlie and Jesse in college and their friendship continues for the next ten plus years.

Oh, sweet author! This was such a lovely story. Their relationships, Amber’s family, Charlie’s mother and sister and Jesse, I adored!

There is a great saying – ‘You can choose your friends, but not your family.’ Amber’s family drives her nuts, especially her sisters, but there is love there too. Family are always complex and that’s the underlying truth.

You can’t buy this book. No, it’s only exclusive to the author’s newsletter. That’s not a bad thing if you love newsletters like I do. It’s a good one, and having read this, I know I’ll be reading more from Sophie.

She is a new author to me, and you should check her out. I promise you, she is a great writer.

Book Blurb and Link

Amber’s never got over Jesse. When she turns thirty, he unexpectedly re-enters her life. At the same time, her family’s extravagance means that they have to let out their beautiful Notting Hill house, and Jesse offers a solution: they can move into his brother-in-law’s business flat in Chelsea. Along with their college friend Charlie, Amber and Jesse head to Lyme Regis for a beach holiday. But maybe being with Jesse isn’t as great as she remembers. When Charlie reveals that he has feelings for Amber, she needs to make the right choice, after spending nine years in guilt and regret. Following her own dreams, Amber needs to take control of her own future.
