Meet My Character – Julie from Timelines

Choosing a main character for your book is a big deal. What they have to say guides the plot as they evolve and take form.

For Time Lines, I introduced readers to Julie. It would have been great if I could tell you a good story about how my main character came to be, or even how I chose her name. That’s because sometimes an idea for a character can just come to you. Sometimes, they’d named after someone you know, or a name you saw and liked. Julie arrived in my head as I was writing, and she developed along the way. Sometimes it happens like that.

Have you ever wanted to travel to the future? Julie is six hundred years ahead of us. Can you imagine what that would look like?  Well, I can tell you she is a government operative, and her job is to travel to the past. Her job is to collect evidence to use against other governments to help their world credibility.

What makes it more exciting is that people from the past don’t know she’s there because she’s invisible. How exciting would that be?. If I had a superpower, it would certainly be the one I’d go for. What fun! Can you imagine?

However, to make the story interesting, I was mean to Julie. I know, you should never be mean to anyone, but hey, I’m an author and I can make anything happen! And, of course, the more mean I am, the more you’ll love it!

I gave her amnesia and took away her invisibility. Haha! Poor Julie, she is scared and confused, and I gave her team plenty to think about. It’s a conundrum really, one where everyone must work out why this particular time travelling trip went so wrong.
