Congratulations to Thérésa Hedges on the re/ release of her novel Trash.
I know just how much work and thought goes into redoing book and giving it a fresh rewrite. Plus having a new cover is special.

I’ll let Therese explain further:
There were a number of things that I wanted to change or update in Trash.
All my novels are either set in, or have a connection to, my native Wales. I didn’t feel the country or the culture was overly visible in the original version, and it certainly didn’t seem obvious that one of the central characters was a local girl.
That was straightforward enough to alter. There was also something that, since the novel’s original release, has become a trope – and not one that I was comfortable with. Getting rid of that is what truly powered the rewrite. Not a single chapter escaped. In fact, I’d say, if you’ve already read Trash, you really haven’t!

Excerpt
Nina wandered around her apartment, waiting for Sophie and Tara to knock on her door. Tempted to sit down, she thought better of it: she didn’t want to crease her new dress. The thought that she would essentially be spending most of the evening sat down in it never crossed her mind.
Sure enough, she heard a knock, but when she opened it, she saw a familiar, freckled face smiling down at her.
“You know you could’ve-” She pointed to the partition door.
“Yes, but where would be the fun in that?! Hm. I seem to spend my life knocking at your door.” The grin clarified that he wasn’t being serious.
Nina invited him in. He stood back for a moment to look at her. Eyebrows raised, he stared at her, his head tilted. “My word, you’re looking…” He indicated her dress, “Umm… lovely. Very nice, Nina.” he said gently.
She blushed and turned away from him, pretending that she was picking her coat off the sofa. She wasn’t used to receiving compliments. She cursed in her head. She knew she should have just said ‘thank you’ and changed the subject. It was also partly because he looked so handsome in his evening clothes. It had taken her by surprise. She hoped he couldn’t read her mind.
