Oh, what a find! I discovered this author in a Facebook group and liked her. So I bought one of her books and began reading.

Right from the start it gripped me.

When Olivia is kidnapped, who is the perpetrator?

There is a choice of who it could be. Not that she is a bad character, just the opposite. Olivia was lovely. I liked her right away. She was strong minded, independent, and loyal to her daughter, Andrea. Who, I might add, is a mini version of her mum. She is a strong-willed, sassy, fifteen year old and they have a great relationship.

The love interest was Warren, a police officer which means he helped as Olivia had a stalker.

I loved Olivia’s resilience and survival attitude especially when everything seemed against her. It’s what made the story exciting. That woman was a fighter!

If you’ve never discovered Clare Bentley before, it’s about time you did. She writes romantic suspense with the emphasis on the latter. Check out her her website above.

This book is standalone and this is the stunning description

Single parent Olivia Cavanagh has been happily raising the child she had in her teens. Content with her life, she has no desire to date.

When her teenage daughter, Andrea, signs her up on a dating app, a past trauma causes Olivia to hesitate. But after a month of badgering, she agrees to meet police officer Warren Jacobs for a coffee.

Olivia enjoys the sweetness of her new romance, unaware she’s being watched from the shadows. The stakes are raised when a dangerous individual from her past is released from prison. Both of her watchers are determined to have a piece of her, but it’s only when Olivia goes missing the severity of their attention is realised.

But which of the men in her life has taken her, and will Andrea find her mother before it’s too late?

My Favourite Bits

She wasn’t sure how long she’d been here, but by her calculations it was probably four days, purely based on the fact she’d been fed eleven meals – three a day. The only thing keeping her going was the thought that the alarm would’ve been raised, so the police would be trying to find her. She

He stood outside the house trying to decide what to do. He could see him through the window, but he had no doubt her captor didn’t know he was there. He had little to no awareness of his surroundings – a rookie mistake. He’d seen him take her. He’d beenstanding in the alley, the safety of the shadows protecting him from being seen.

The room was still and silent when Ben walked downstairs a short time later with his belongings. He didn’t know whether it was because the three people in the living room had nothing to say to each other or if it was to stop him overhearing details about Olivia’s captivity. Either way, the silence was deafening.
