My Review of Fireworks in the Sky by Pamela Ackerson

It didn’t work for me.

Fireworks in the Sky by Pamela Ackerson

A short romantic read

Rating: 3 Stars

37 pages

I chose this because I love short reads, but have to say it was disappointing. The only reason I finished it was because it was short.

It started with an introduction to the protagonist and her circumstances. She heard a loud bang and jumped out of bed to see what it was. Houses around her were flattened. But after a description of the devastation around her, none of it was real except for the loud noise.

This seemed pointless as it had no purpose. The story then moved on at terrific speed. I didn’t get chance to know Elisa before we jumped into all sorts of situations, including meeting the hunky firefighter, Hudson.

It was this romance that lured me in, except, there was not much of it. Everything appeared to be going along nicely, until Hudson’s ex girlfriend, Jill showed up. I must say there were some great lines of antagonism between Jill and Elisa. The next moment, Hudson and gone off with Jill. It was so out of the blue, I thought I’d missed something, but I hadn’t.

Elisa was upset, but since I’d not had a chance to get to know her, I felt like a passive observer.

The ending was as I expected. But they still felt like strangers. Apart from Hudson being hunky, I had no idea what they looked like.

The book description is this:

Fate was about to light a spark that would set two hearts ablaze.

Elisa Langley wasn’t expecting to have the man of her dreams knocking on her front door, telling her she had to evacuate, now. She never imagined destiny would arrive in the form of a rugged firefighter, and all-around country boy. As flames of a different kind began to kindle, they found themselves on the cusp of a romance that would prove that sometimes, the unexpected detours in life lead us to the love we’re truly meant to find.

Trevor Hudson thought he’d lost his true love, only to realize it was the wrong woman…
