Brief Description – when a famous authors comes to the village, no one expected him to end up dead.

Four books in, and I love Detective Harry Grimm and his team. Each of them are interesting and fully formed with their quirks and vices.
Not only that, the setting for all these novels is a village called Hawes in the Yorkshire Dales. The scenery and the surrounding area play a massive part in the storyline.
With DI Grimm coming from the city of Bristol, he very much appreciates his new home and all the countryside has to offer. Below I’ve included a small excerpt that warmed my heart and kudos to David L. Gatward and his writing skills.
The author in Shooting Season had a book launched at a local shop. There are plenty of guests and unfortunately things do not go as planned. As always happens in crime novels.
He, his party of employees and guests, stayed at a local guest lodge for a few days. At this point, it reminded me of an Agatha Christie whodunnit as Grimm and his team interview them individually. We know one of the party has done the dirty dead and I didn’t guess who it was.
Another great instalment of this crime thriller series, which I recommend. Plus it’s easy to work your way through the books if you have a Kindle Unlimited membership.

Blurb
When a book launch party turns murderous, can he capture a killer before they escape justice?
DCI Harry Grimm has a sneaking suspicion the bleak Yorkshire Dales are growing on him. Though shadows from his big-city past still loom, he’s finding his place among the quirky townsfolk and their eccentric eating habits. But his gruesome crime-scene expertise takes center stage when a successful visiting author is found dead.
Investigating the cantankerous writer’s entourage, Grimm lines up too many suspects with motives for murder. But with the evidence not adding up and the press piling on relentless pressure, the determined policeman could end up facing his own final chapter.
Can this seasoned detective solve a sinister case of fatal fair game?
Shooting Season is the atmospheric fourth book in the DCI Harry Grimm crime fiction series. If you like complex heroes, fast-paced action, and murky mysteries, then you’ll love David J. Gatward’s gritty manhunt.

The breath of the place blew strong and sweet with the scent of grass and heather, leaf and fern, and the river Ure, which Harry stared at now, down in the bottom of the valley, was its lifeblood, fed by the rains which danced with abandon on the valley’s slopes, and kept the place rich and fresh and bursting with promise.
As lovely as the words are, I think you’ll agree its a heck of a long sentence!
