My Review – The Running Grave by Robert Galbraith

This is book seven in the series and I’ve read them all. I’d heard it described as the best yet, but that’s always a matter of opinion. It took me fifteen days to read the almost 1000 pages.

Taking on a new case, you already knew Robin would go into a church cult. The thought was exciting and I knew it would be a good story if she did. I wasn’t wrong.

One thing I really liked that the author maintained throughout the series is the majority of characters manes. They were slightly unusual. not strange or weird, just different. It was refreshing.

The story was complex, all the books in the series are, and with lots of characters. Galbraith goes into much detail about everything. In the last book Ink Black Heart, which was grossly overwritten, this wasn’t. The Running Grave is a masterpiece of plot, characterisation, and dialogue, it really was ‘unputdownable.’

Overall, it can be read without reading the others first. The plot is complete and anything referred to in earlier books is explained. I absolutely loved this story. I can’t wait to see it on television. It will be the darkest yet. However, the ending… oh goodness. Soon as the next comes out on pre-order, I will definitely be buying it!
