She came to him on a cool autumn evening, but not in the way he’d dreamed.

There was no sunlight streaming through her hair, no innocent, joyous smile on her face.

There was only her grunting with effort as she dragged her decaying body to his open bedroom window.

Scurrying, he ran to his window to get a better view, his spellbook falling on the floor. He watched with nervousness as the woman of his dreams approached. Was she going to kill him or embrace him?

It suddenly didn’t matter anymore. He climbed out so that he could meet her.

  1. I read this short story and then some others on your site. The idea of 100 words seems so easy, but I know it’s harder than it looks. My hat’s off to these authors for pulling it off. They were fun to read. For this one, I loved that he didn’t care what would happen but ran to meet his dream woman anyway.
