100 Word Story #21 – After Christmas by Gwyn Broadmeadow

Christmas mugs and tea towels were back in storage, the cards were all stacked in a pile to be re- read at a later date.

There wasn’t a sign of a Christmas decoration, not even a forgotten strand of tinsel. All that remained was a sad vase of Christmas flowers and they would soon have to go.

No more mince pies, Christmas cake or chocolate to consume, but Sarah smiled to herself as she thought of the unopened tin of shortbread under her pillow.

“Where are the biscuits?” moaned the kids. “All gone” she replied and thought “I deserve it.”
