Remembering Ben-Hur

If like me you are of a certain age, mention Ben-Hur and you’ll immediately think of Charlton Heston. An image of him standing tall in a chariot comes to mind too.

Lewis Wallace was born in 1827 and was a solider in the American Civil War. He was a lawyer and a diplomat and eventually , he became an author.

Ben-Hur: A Tale of the Christ was published under the name of General Lew Wallace on this day, November 12, 1880.

  1. The original film Ben Hur was a classic, the remake was a poor copy. One of my all time favourite films.
