Where did the idea for the story come from?
The characters appear in the first part of my Heart Trilogy series but by then they are fifteen years older and other things have happened. I got to wondering while I wrote Sebastian’s interaction with Stephanie how he got to that point and the idea came from there. There may still be a second book to accompany this as I fill in the next part of his story.
Summarise Your Book In Ten Words
A first love story set against anxiety and depression.
Give a quote from the books, one that says little but speaks volumes.
He was still sinking, still too frightened to decide what to do, where to go? Whether to end the sheer terror he felt at being alone in a dark place that he only ever escaped from briefly.
Give a short summary of what the book is about.
It’s the story of Sebastian and Lena and them falling in love with each other for the first time. It’s set in New Zealand and also covers the issues of anxiety and depression which Sebastian suffers from.
What genre is it?
Contemporary Romance.
How many pages is it?
67 pages.
Why do you think the readers will want to read it?
I think everyone has gone through the highs and lows of falling in love for the first time so they will identify with the main characters. Equally anyone who knows what it is like to deal with anxiety and depression will feel a deep connection with Sebastian.
Where are you located?
I live in Ross-on-Wye, Herefordshire.

Excerpt
Seb knew he could never offer her a ‘happily ever after’ like her books so why not just a perfect night and the memory of him.
Placing the parcel on the pillow he closed the door and slunk into the night. He found his Dad’s boat and nearly tripped over a bucket and mop that was left alongside. Russell had kept to his word and cleaned it. Feeling a shiver, he climbed on board and untied the yacht. He swayed as the images seemed to drift up through the cabin door that was firmly shut.
On the open ocean the yacht was bounced and buffeted as Seb struggled to hold the sail steady now he was beyond the harbour walls. The moon seemed to know where he was going and shone the route to his favourite hidden cove.
Dropping anchor out of sight Seb sat huddled on the bench seat, gazing at the sky. One by one each star appeared, revealing the many constellations. Finding his rucksack Seb pulled out his camera, he never left the house without it and tonight was no exception. His mind drifted as he pointed the lens towards the jagged outcrop, lit dramatically by the moon. Then he panned round to the cove, in monochrome. He was still sinking, still too frightened to decide what to do, where to go? Whether to end the sheer terror he felt at being alone in a dark place that he only ever escaped from briefly.
