Karen’s Review
Having a complicated plot doesn’t mean that it’s a bad thing. It is extremely clever with many twists and turns. The author kept adding twists that I didn’t see coming and it only made me all the more intrigued.
Did Susan kill her baby? Do books have their main characters as a bad people? You rooted for her, you liked her, and even though she was flawed, it made you like her more. She doubted herself at times and constantly asked herself whether she had killed her baby. She absolutely adored the child, so how could she have done it?
Jenny Blackhurst really does keep the reader guessing for a long time. You hoped she hadn’t, but you never really knew for a long while. I loved this story and was totally engrossed and I don’t think I have ever read anything with so many unexpected turns.
What I liked best:
There is another storyline in italics that randomly comes in chapters. I had no idea who these people were and how they related to the main character. It was like another story and set in the past. I didn’t find out who they were until about 3/4s of the way through. It was a long time to keep guessing, but certainly a page turner.
And the Rest:
If wanted to be really picky, I didn’t like the name Susan for the main character, but that’s it.
