Kindle Unlimited, Post Apocolyptic, series

Spared, Book Two by Graham Toseland

There were things in the first book that I didn’t like. The abandoned animals were one, and there were also quite a few proofreading errors. But somehow, I still found myself wanting to continue the story, and here’s why.

The characters and storyline draw you in as a group of survivors fight to, well, survive. In this book, they find each other and soon agree to stick together. I’ve realised that post-apocalyptic stories where people are brought together and begin a journey are something I really enjoy.

If you can overlook the errors, then when the story is this good, it’s surprisingly easy to do. Writing a book is hard, especially when you don’t have an army of people behind you to help. What counts is a compelling read, and this is very much that.

Book Blurb and Link

The world looks the same as it ever was but is changed forever.
Having found each other, the tiny group of survivors must stick together as they head towards the coast. Gary, driven by his desire to find Anna and driven to distraction by the necessarily slow pace, pushes the group onward. Danger on the road is just around the corner but the group also need to battle their own fears and the vagaries of the weather to reach their goal.
Unknown to them, an ancient force, revived by the apocalypse, waits to bring death to the group before they can finally get to their journey’s end where Gary discovers Anna’s fate… and her secret.
