The Deeps by Stevie Lynn Hostetta

If you enjoy a creepy tale, then this is one you’ll definitely want to devour. In fact, “devour” feels like the perfect word because that’s exactly what the sea seems determined to do, along with the sinister creature lurking on the book cover.

Each chapter introduces new people going about innocent, everyday moments by the sea. A family enjoying a day on the beach, a young girl admiring the lighthouse, fishermen hauling in their catch. One by one, they are drawn into the mystery, each encounter adding another layer to the rumours and legends that will haunt the town for years to come.

I particularly loved the abandoned old ship, a ghostly presence that somehow shouldn’t have been there at all. As the protagonist steps onto its weathered wooden planks, you can almost hear them creak beneath your feet and feel the unsettling atmosphere closing in around you.

Every story pulls you deeper into the mystery, leaving you questioning what really happened. It captures your imagination, twists it in unexpected directions, and refuses to let go. Prepare to be intrigued, unsettled, and thoroughly entertained.
