I wasn’t sure this would be my kind of story, as science fiction is not usually my genre, but I do enjoy a novella, and something about this one drew me in.
The concept of the two worlds, one beneath and one above, was captivating. I loved how normal the “above” world felt, and the life one of the protagonists, Elizabeth, was leading. Her past was catching up with her, and she had to tell her daughter, Ariel, the truth about where she came from. Her husband, John was already caught up in it all, but until he entered the “sinkhole”, he had no idea how closely connected he was to his wife’s past.
The story that unfolded was fascinating and held my attention throughout.
This is certainly one for science fiction and fantasy fans, but even if, like me, you are not usually drawn to those genres and want to step into a different world, this is a great place to begin.

Book Blurb and Link
Imagine a world hidden beneath our own. Living in this world is a race of refugees called the Chrysta – an alien species who had escaped captivity from the world of Vermal.
Our two worlds are about to collide when archeologist John Stein discovers their world and learns the truth about his wife Elizabeth and their sixteen year old daughter, Ariel.
In the mix of it all is a prophecy that Ariel could save the Chrysta…or destroy them.
