I Can See No Evil Here

See No Evil by David J. Gatward * Rating: 5 Stars # Genre: Crime

260 Pages * Kindle Unlimited and Audio Book * Series: Book 17

Despite its gruesome beginning, this was a great story. So much happened, from the scarecrow that wasn’t, to the body tied to a tree. All from an unexpected murderer.

Harry goes down with the flu. From hacking cough to sneezing he is forced into bed and always with his faithful dog by his side.

The team start falling like flies after that, but we only get Harry’s frustrated point of view because he can’t lead the investigation and has to hand it over to his inspector.

I thoroughly enjoyed this story and there were lots of humorous bits in it. So I’m sharing some of those with you. Although, as always the crime is deadly serious.

Another great read from the Detective Harry Crime Thriller series.

Book Blurb

A corpse hanging over the crops. A team falling ill. Can he find a killer before someone decides murder is contagious?

DCI Harry Grimm hates getting sick. Fighting a terrible cold, the under-the-weather detective is already pushing his limits by going house hunting with his girlfriend. So, when he’s called out to investigate a body gruesomely displayed in a field as a scarecrow, he can’t see how his day can get any worse. That is, until another body turns up.

With the rest of his colleagues succumbing to sickness and one member of the team soon to leave for good, the ill inspector realises it’ll take more than a little rest and a hot toddy to get back on track and stop this countryside killer.

Can he keep a clear head and catch a murderer intent on writing their motive in blood?

See No Evil is the stunning seventeenth book in the DCI Harry Grimm Crime Thrillers series. If you like characters that feel like old friends, interwoven plots, and solid mysteries, then you’ll love David J. Gatward’s countryside conundrum

My Favourite Bits

Maybe he needed to get his eyes checked? It was a few years now since he’d been to an optician, and that visit hadn’t gone very well, what with falling asleep in the chair within moments of the lights being turned off.

‘Why?’ the man asked. ‘Afraid I might start spouting a few too many truths, is that it? Don’t want the public knowing what a mess things are? How you don’t care about the Englishman and his castle?’

‘You live in a castle?’ Matt asked, the words out of his mouth before he could stop them.

‘Of course I don’t!’ the man replied. ‘The point I’m making is—’ Matt stepped to one side and gestured along the hallway.

Jim sat down next to Gordy and put an arm around her, and Harry saw then the bond the team had. There were no senior officers here, no PCSOs, just friends looking out for each other regardless of age or rank. It wasn’t conventional by any means, but it worked, and Harry knew he was lucky to be a part of it.
