This is the final book in what has been an incredible journey, filled with wonderful characters, each with their own story within the trilogy.

Chased Beyond the Tide follows Marcus and Chloe. The previous books focused on Jay and Lou, and Connor and Tilly. By the time we reach this third book, we are already familiar with the beautiful part of Cornwall they live in. The author paints a vivid picture of both the people and the place.

Based Beyond the Tide alternates between Marcus’s and Chloe’s points of view, giving us a well-rounded understanding of how they feel and how their relationship develops. Just as their romance blossoms, something happens to Chloe that threatens to tear them apart.

This is both a heartwarming and heartbreaking tale, with many tender and poignant moments. The author’s prose is beautiful, though at times it feels at odds with the crude language in the long, steamy scenes.

For readers who enjoy romance, this will be a treat. And if you’re not a fan of steamy, they’re easy enough to skip.

Nevertheless, I couldn’t possibly rate this book less than five stars.

Book Blurb

Since she was a teenager, Chloe’s had one goal—to track down her sister’s killer and bring him to justice.

Chloe never believed that her sister had run away, she knew that Leah had been killed, there is no way her sister would have left without a word. What Chloe hadn’t planned for was falling in love with the emotionally shut off detective who was put in charge of re-opening her sister’s case.

Marcus had always needed control in all areas of his life. He has no time for a relationship and no need for the feelings that Chloe was evoking deep inside him. But once she gets under his skin, all bets are off. Marcus thought he could control it. He thought he could protect her. He was wrong.

When their worlds are turned inside out, and all hope appears to be lost, will their love for one another persevere and heal them … or will it be too late?

Beautiful Bits

They have listened to me, counselled me and just sat there and held me, in Lou’s case, that is, and I was surprised when Jay just stood there with his hand on my shoulder as Lou held me while I fell apart.

“I’ll meet you by the Slug and Lettuce,” I say, referring to one of the many restaurants which grace Bristol Harbourside, and where we intend to start our night of drunken shenanigans.

So, we sit there in the garden as the sun crawls across the sky. The bees and the butterflies flit around collecting their nectar whilst I spill out all the feelings I’ve been holding in.

This author writes great romance. Visit her website here.
