Raw and Emotional

Hear What You Want by Kyra Lennon
Romance
Rating: 5 Stars

What an emotional rollercoaster this story is.
I listened to the audiobook, and the narrator was perfect for Ambra’s point of view—I didn’t want to just read it; I needed to hear it.
The photo that starts it all is deeply embarrassing, and once it’s posted on social media, things only spiral. People can be so judgmental and cruel.
Ambra is a strong character, but even she begins to question herself, wondering whether her actions somehow brought this on.
There are heart-wrenching moments, especially when she’s surrounded by her best friends. They do everything they can to protect and support her.
At the heart of the story is Noah, the lead singer of Chaos in the Courtyard. I love a rock band romance and this was different than I expected. It takes the “after-show party” idea to the extreme, leaving everyone questioning themselves.
I’ve read Kyra Lennon before, but this story felt so different. There’s a sense of naivety in the tone, although the subject matter is very mature. Unfortunately, it is real for many women today. The circumstances may vary, but at its core, this is the story of a young woman taken advantage of through no fault of her own.
A superb read that left me shell-shocked by the end.

This book is the first in a series. This is the description
One photo. Two lives changed forever.
When Ambra McKenna wakes up almost-naked in a hotel room and missing pieces of her memory, the only clue she has about how she got there are the empty alcohol bottles all over the floor.
That, and the half-dressed rock star lying beside her.
Ambra remembers the sizzling attraction she and Chaos In The Courtyard’s frontman Noah Garcia had for each other while she photographed his band the night before. But what happened at the after party?
When a photo emerges on social media of the two of them making out, both Ambra and Noah’s reputations are on the line. Is she just a desperate band groupie trying to get attention by sleeping with the sexy singer, or did Noah take advantage of her while she was drunk?
As accusations fly, one thing becomes clear. Something did happen to Ambra that night, and that one photo is all the evidence they have.
However, sometimes… the camera does lie.**

My Favourite Bits
Maybe as humiliating as having the entire university discussing whether or not you’re a slag.
The harshness of his tone caused tears to prickle the backs of my eyes, but, as much as I wanted to break down, I refused to. Not in front of someone who believed I was capable of lying about what happened to me.
“Can I see her, Lucy?” I asked quietly. “Please. Will she let me see her?” She shook her head, her eyes sad. “I don’t think that’s a good idea.” “Will you ask her?” “Not right now. She’s trying to come to terms with all of this and she just needs her friends and her family around her.”
