Rating: 5 Stars

I was looking for a short read and as the author has a bite-sized reads collection, I went in search of one.

I was up to date with them all, but came across this little gem. It had one lonely review that said,

“Truly amazing for one human being to understand so much pain in the world. This book touched me deeply. I will cherish it always and be grateful to have stumbled upon it.”

After reading that, I downloaded it and was not disappointed. Even though it needs updating, something the author is doing, I still loved it.

The poems are deeply moving and filled with emotion. Paul White’s talent seems boundless. My favorite poem was a particularly sad one—though, in truth, there’s a sense of sorrow running through them all, sometimes even a touch of melancholy. But there are moments when that kind of mood resonates, and you find yourself wanting to linger in it for a while

Each poem made me think of the story if it was turned into fiction. Maybe it would make for too hard a read. So therefore, this collrction was perfect.

Give it a read, you might like it too.

I have entitled this book Shadows of Emotion because I believe that our shadows are always with us. Sometimes they are right in front of us, dark and prominent in their presence. At other times they are by our side or behind us, faded or shortened, or cast out at length over grey pavement by the evening sun.

As our shadows, so are our emotions; constant companions who’s presence waxes and wanes as time and life pass. We have no command over either, both being

My Favourite Bits

I hear the bugle playing that old sombre tune, A refrain of solace for all mankind. But no bugle boy stands upon a hill, no flags flutter on the mast, For the only sound I hear is playing within my mind.

I reach out, touch the pillows indent Left by your head. I yearn for the silky warmth Of your body. I miss the misty touch Of your breath. I imagine you soft lips Again touching mine. I dream of holding you close, Caressing your curves. I ache for your presence Next to me.
