Wonderfully Romantic!

The Heart of Baker Bay by Danielle Jacks
Romance
Rating: 5 Stars

If you are looking for a feel good romance in a beautiful setting with wonderful characters, here it is. And to top it off, it has the most terrific ending, I loved it.
The author, whom I’ve read and enjoyed before, offered this book free for a week. So I downloaded and read it within the month.
Jody comes from the big city of Manchester to help out her Gran in the sweetly named Clover Bay. She runs a cafe by the sea and after breaking her arm, needs help running it.
Jody flits from one job to another and constantly makes a mess of all she touches. Her family often despair of her. This maybe just what she needed.
Adam has lived in Clover Bay all his life and apart from his job as the local postman, he helps out Molly at the cafe when he can. Adam is scathing of the city girl who arrives in heels on the cobbled roads. He doesn’t want to get involved but there is something alluring about the city girl.
There’s a conflict that keeps them apart, but the story is beautifully written, with characters that truly draw you in. We watch Jody grow as she learns about life, responsibility, and discovers something she’s passionate about.
If you are a fan of a nice romance story, this is the one. Not forgetting the ending which I absolutely loved!

This book is also standalone.
Jody
Being fired is not a pleasant experience, although it’s something I’ve become good at. I’ve had more jobs than most people have in a lifetime. When my gran has an accident, I find myself volunteering to manage her seaside café. I’m the last person anyone should rely on, but for some crazy reason, I’m on my way to save the day. What could possibly go wrong?
Adam
Clover Bay is my home. Keeping my head down and enjoying the simple life is all I want. Jody’s temporarily staying in the village to help her grandmother. At first, she seems high maintenance, but it isn’t long before I can see through the cracks. I don’t want to like her, but there is something about her I can’t stay away from.
Can one small village set two hearts free, or will Clover Bay become a distant memory of summer dreams for Jody?
My Favourite Bits
“There’s something different about you.” I run my fingers through my hair, using the phone as a mirror. “I don’t have a hangover, which I guess is unusual for my day off.” I try to act casual, although I’m not an alcoholic, so my words don’t hold true. I still have last night’s make-up on, and my hair looks like I’ve been dragged through a bush.
My last glimmer of hope fades. Jody is never going to choose me. I’m never going to be enough for her. The painful realisation is sinking into my chest. I can see I’m not going to get what I want, and I don’t want to prolong this agony any longer. I was right to end things between us. My mistake was trying to hold onto the hope she’d change her mind.
I want to fight for the things I deserve. I want a family and business in the heart of Clover Bay. I want to share what I have with people that love me and who I love back.
