Still Life by C. S. Dixon

Brief Description – When J awakens he doesn’t remember who he is. That’s just the start of his nightmare.

This is a short story in every sense of the word. It tantalises you and gives you snippets without fully explaining.

The protagonist is a young man called J. He wakes up to a nightmare and his confusion only increases with each page I read. He races down down long tunnels and meets people who don’t appear to see him. No matter how hard he tries, he cannot find the way out.

This story keeps you guessing, is it real? Is he even real? I was lured into the disturbing unknown with no idea of how it might end

The ending was clever, neatly done and will plays into the reader’s worst fears.

If you fancy a ten minute read, then this is perfect.

Blurb

A man sees the approach of sudden, unstoppable pain, then… he wakes alone on a table and his nightmare journey of confusion begins…
