Like many people, I enjoy a good mystery. Stories where you need to know what happens next are just the best! They are tales that pique your curiosity and keep you turning the page to get to the end.
Over the years, I’ve found the stories of missing people intriguing. Why did they disappear in the first place? Was it an accident or something more sinister? Is there a happy ending or does it end in tragedy? Also, just as important, how does it affect those left behind?
There are over 300,000 people reported missing each year in the UK alone. That works out at almost 900 plus a day. Imagine that!
The first high profile case I recall was that of Lord Lucan in 1974. Then in 1985 estate agent Suzy Lamplugh went missing. Ben Needham aged just 21 months went misding on holiday in 1991, as did Madeline McCann in 2007. All of them remain unresolved.
You only have to read the Missing Person’s website to see the many tragic and mystifying cases there are.
What makes a person decide to go missing? What could be so bad that they walk out to start a new life someday else? Many fiction stories have been written about the missing being murdered or suffering a tragic accident. I wanted to write a story with a happy ending.
Finding Amanda is a poignant book full of misunderstandings and sadness. But ultimately they have the happy ending that will warm your heart,

Did you know that a lot of these missing people could be dead in their cars under a body of water? Since the planet is mostly water, it makes sense that a lot of people die in water. I ran across a YT channel that does underwater search and recovery of people who have been missing for months or even decades. And they find their remains in their cars at the bottom of lakes, rivers, etc. It’s really sad.
