A Review of Grip of Frenzy by Sam J. Fires

Brief Description – An EMP has hit the world and taken out the power. Everyone is just trying to survive after a bitterly cold winter.

I’ve been lucky enough to be get advanced reader copy as I have for the last few books of this series.

As it’s been a while seen I read the last book, so I couldn’t quite remember where we were in the saga. I knew the main characters were Pat, and Holly, and his children and they were travelling to find Holly’s mother who she hadn’t seen for many years.

As I began to read, I suddenly remembered the massive twist the author introduced in the last book. It was one I never saw coming and took me by complete surprise. This ramped up the story.

I was excited to start reading and I wasn’t disappointed. Wow. The main characters all had a chapter where we saw the story unfold from their eyes.

Thank goodness the snow had cleared and the big issue was now hunger. The main conflict was about who was attacking the village, and why.

As the story came to a close, we had a few answers, but not the why. That will unfold in the next and final book. I can’t wait for that.

This is a super series and all of them are novellas, which I really like. So therefore, a recommend this book, and the collection. It definitely gets five stars from me.

But when an EMP plunges the country into darkness, Pat’s mission to reach his children in Salem becomes a race against a brutal winter and devastating chaos. Alongside Holly, an escaped patient with a troubled past and her steadfast dog Butler, they navigate treacherous terrain where danger lurks at every turn.

Grip of Frenzy weaves a tale of unyielding determination and resilience amidst overwhelming odds. As Patrick battles his inner demons to protect his family, Holly discovers newfound strength in the chaos that ensues
