Child Missing by Lynn Miclea

Brief Description – a police procedural story where detectives investigate a missing child.

This story appealed to me because I like crime thrillers, and I especially like novellas.

When Alissa Barnes seven year old son goes missing, she frantically calls the police. This is where we meet Detective Sergeant Matt Holden and his side kick, Detective Blake Sanders for the first time.

This is going to be a series featuring Matt Holden and so here we meet him for the first time. What I particularly liked is that Matt has a home life, just as most people do, and every day he returns home. Most novels of this type ignore that bit as it’s mundane, but that’s real life isn’t it? This is a routine we all have and it brought normality to the character.

Police procedures is something I enjoy reading about as the detectives went down every investigative avenue to search for the abductee. I won’t add a spoiler by giving you a clue – see what I did there – as to what happens so let’s say there are no cliff hangers.

If you love a detective series and do not have time to spend a couple weeks reading it, then this is for you.

This is Book One of the Detective Matt Holden Mystery series.

A gripping and intense mystery crime thriller. For those who enjoy detective stories and crime thrillers, this is for you!

A sweet seven-year-old boy suddenly goes missing. No clues are left behind. There are no witnesses — no one saw or heard anything. There is almost nothing for the cops to go on. The mother of the boy is frantic.

Detective Sergeant Matt Holden knows time is critical. He understands too well that most child-abduction cases do not end well. He will do everything possible to track down and rescue this boy.

Two similar cases from two years earlier were never solved and have gone cold. Detective Holden fears this case could become another one that is never solved, and he can’t allow that to happen.
