I found this book right here on a Silver Daggers Book Tour. I thought it sounded interesting and it was.
Demi escaping a past trauma, starts life afresh at her grandfather’s cabin in Alaska. Unfortunately, the cabin is in a bad state of disrepair. Luckily, she has the skills and foresight to rebuild it, but does need help.
Whit and Glen come with their own back stories. Glen is young and after a bad upbringing took to the bottle. Whit is recovering from the premature death of his mother.
Together the three of them heal.
I enjoyed the story and the relationships including the budding romance between Whit and Demi. There is an escaped convict to deal with, and a bush fire that add interesting twists to the tale.
Overall, it was a well written and had all the elements for a realistic telling of traumatic situations. The only thing I didn’t like was the ending. I would have probably read the second book anyway, because I enjoyed the story. but resent being forced into it by a cliff hanger ending. Having said that, I would still recommend it.
