My Review of The Day the Earth Turned – Winter by Chantelle Atkins

This is the third book in the series and I had the honour of reading an advanced reader copy.

Reuben, Gus, and Chess are all in big trouble in this instalment. If you ever think a Young Adult novel is light reading, you couldn’t be more wrong. I found the story to be dark and foreboding. I also couldn’t stop reading it as our three young protagonists are in the hands of the evil David. A man who spreads his love of God and yet he is cruel and probably the worst villain I’ve come across in a long time.

The story is powered by children, all the adults have died. We started in the summer, went through autumn, and now they are in the midst of winter. The earth is also claiming back with the plants and animals retrieving what is theirs and everything is getting out of control.

Overall, this is a brilliantly conceived story. The whole series has been spectacular, but this one is genius. Totally absorbing and entertaining, A nd as it reached the climax, I was almost shouting out loud and cheering them on. I really can’t wait to read Spring and the last book of the series. Therefore, I 💯 recommend these books. Chantelle Atkins is a truly gifted writer. Fabulous book!
