My Review of Amy’s Story by Mark Hood

I found this on Sahara Foley’s Website where she hosts free books in exchange for signing up to an authors newsletter. I get quite a few and enjoy them. It’s a great way to find new authors.

Amy’s Story, is only available on Mark Hood’s website. It is set during the War of the Worlds, the original HG Wells novel, written at the end of the 19th century.

I sensed the time setting to be the same as the 1939 film. The author successfully portrayed the colloquialism and perspective of that era. It was true to the original with the huge metal tripods zapping out death rays. Having read the HG Wells book, and watched the films over the years, and I really enjoyed Mark Hood’s version.

Amy was married to George and he disappears leaving her to fend for herself and she ends up helping out at makeshift hospital. She also meets a young girl and they become friends. I loved their relationship and how they spoke to each other,

Overall, if you are looking for something a little different to read, then this is it. It’s a prequel to a two book series. I recommend Amy Story, and if you enjoy this, you can find the first book on Amazon.
