My Review of Surviving the Evacuation: London by Frank Tayell

I found this on a Facebook advert and the comments were saying how good the books were. They weren’t wrong!.

One man alone in a city of zombies. It doesn’t sound like something I would read, especially as he talks to no one. Cleverly done by the author as the story is told by journal entries. Only the day and time gave it away, the rest read like it was being told in the first person narrative.

The only thing I didn’t like was the entries were the chapters and appeared randomly and at any length. There never seemed to be a proper place to stop.

Overall, I found Surviving the Evacuation so compelling, I literally could not stop reading. Once I’d reached a certain point, Bill’s quest for survival and resilience sucked me in. He learns so much, despite being impeded. The biggest thing he learnt comes at the end, and I was really thrilled to discover it too.

I’ll probably be reading the whole series over the next year because there are a lot of books. But if this is anything to go by, then they are going to be a heck of a ride!
