News from Karen’s Writing Desk
Welcome to my monthly newsletter. Hot of the Press contains my writing and reading news, with a few selected books I’ve read and enjoyed.
Publishing News!
I’ve been thrilled with the reviews I’ve received for Time Lines. Having never written Science Fiction, this was totally different for me. Not my favourite topic for a book, but I like to try my hand at different genres and this was definitely a success.

Writing News
I’ve done the final edits on Play the Game, a romance story to break your heart, and this has now gone to Julie my editor.
I’m also busy doing my own edits of The Sound of Evil, the second in The Cassidy Newbold Clairvoyant Collection. This one is disturbingly dark, and includes a fight with demented spirit!
I’ve also picked up my dystopian novella, Toxic, which I wrote with author Karina Kantas, but it’s unpublished at the moment. We originally had two copies of the same book, word for word, except hers was the erotic version. It proved too difficult to have it that way, and we’ve decided that it will be the same story, same plot and characters, in our own writing style. This means a rewrite, as it’s some years since it was first written.
Reading News
An excellent month with eight books read. Favourite? Evidence of the Affair. It was a very different type of tale.

Why does my mom think I’m perfect?
Poohlicious, as his mom affectionately calls him, teaches us that love is forgiving, kind, and accepting. Our imperfections don’t matter when we are loved.
Do you see how perfect and loved you are?

Inspired by the author’s real-life experience with the supernatural, In Shadows Waiting recounts a summer that changes the Reynolds’ lives forever.
Young Simon Reynolds lives a bucolic life at his family home, White Pastures, surrounded by a loving family and a charming community.
Simon finishes his A levels and looks forward to unwinding while his sisters work on their tans.
Meanwhile the tiny community of Meriton has been plagued by a spate of burglaries, and White Pastures seems to be next.
A shadowy figure stalks the house, but the police can find no signs of an intruder.
As the summer progresses, the shadows take on an altogether more sinister implication, and White Pastures begins to reveal a terrifying secret.
The epicenter of an event that has scarred an entire community, White Pastures grows more and more dark, possessed by a shadow that yearns, a shadow that will not be denied.
At White Pastures, someone will die – but love never will.

A city financier dies leaving millions locked away in secret accounts. His son looks forward to a fortune but there’s a catch, the will. It falls to a jobbing actor to play the role of his life to unlock the key to great wealth. Follow the twists and turns of the plot in this short story, a thirty minute read?
FBI agent Jess Harding treks back to Anchorage to hunt down a sadistic killer who’s reemerged from a five-year hiatus–a killer who has already slipped her grasp once before. The endless days of an Alaskan summer can’t thwart the fiend’s plans as he slashes his way through the rural community, where everyone knows your name and always distrusts the outside. With the help of Oscar Linstrom, an old colleague who wants to be more than friends, Jess attempts to immerse herself in the area’s culture, leading her to a strange rural village inhabited by Russian Old Believers hell-bent on protecting their way of life. Even the locals are outsiders to the Old Believers, and Jess needs a safehaven in the glare of daylight because a blood-stained message left at the scene of the most recent murder says Jess is no longer the hunter–but the hunted.

Congratulations on the great reviews!

Thank you Kymber. And thank you for your support of my posts.
I’ve often been to try and find your website but have never been successful. It says it’s moved, but from there I can never find the new one.
