News from Karen’s Writing Desk
Each month’s end, I send out my hot off-the-press news as if it were a newsletter. They are never complete without a few selected books from authors I’ve read and enjoyed.
May has been incredibly busy with edits for Time Lines. My editor Julie, not only does the edit, but she teaches me along the way. As a result, I’ve learnt so much about the mechanics of getting a story ready for publication. I found out yesterday that I’ve added another 4k words to the story. As it’s a novella, it will be over 10k, but every one of those words counts.
If you would like an ARC (advanced reader copy), please let know.
I’m part of Norns Triad Publication, they are not just my publishers, they are my colleagues and friends, and together, we produce articles for our newsletter. This is not your average author newsletter, it is a magazine and all linked back to the Norns Triad Publications website.
Another month where I’ve read continually. Days End is the third of a series, and Redemption, the fifth and Career of Evil, book three. It was also the largest book I’ve read this year at 607 pages. Wings of Death is an advanced reader copy, and due out in June.

I also wrote an article for Norns Triad Publishing for National Fostering Day. My parents fostered, Mum, all her married life and Dad, when he retired from the police force.

His superpowers made him invincible.
Or so he thought.
Ever since his head injury, Arthur has become fearless – arrogant even.
The CIA? FBI?
He laughed in their faces and teleported half-way around the world. To England, of all places. The Institute of Psychic Research, to be exact. One of the doctors there sets his heart throbbing.
Ruth Burns is a feisty red head who wants nothing to do with the obnoxious American. However, her boss, and his colleague, Commander Dobie, have other ideas. They devise a plan to use her to control Arthur and his abilities.
Tired of Dobie’s bureaucratic nonsense, Arthur teleports to the countryside with Ruth by his side. They end up at Lake George. A place where Ruth previously had a horrifying encounter with The Lady of Lake and the legendary sword, Excalibur.
When Arthur gets mentally scanned by something Metal, Alive, Not Moving, he is compelled to hunt for the infamous pair. Suddenly, their trip turns into a military expedition and they realize there are more secrets hidden beneath the dark waters than anyone imagined. And to top it off, unknown forces are causing Arthur’s powers to go wonky. He’s losing control. Fear has become the order of the day.
Will Arthur be able to recover his abilities in time to prevent WWIII? His next move may determine the fate of the world.
Fifty-something widow Willow Foxglove is looking forward to a cup of tea and a dalliance with the local realtor. Instead, she ends up with a dead body on her doorstep!
When the murder victim is revealed as her ‘kind-of’ boyfriend, the finger of blame points squarely at Willow. To avoid a murder charge, she needs to track down the real killer.
Believing that the local Aniseed Valley sheriff is unequal to the challenge, Willow sets about clearing her name. She must also decide the fate of a gifted Maine Coon kitten, who’s set her allergies ablaze.
As the net tightens, Willow draws on the book-smarts of best friend Harmony and conspiracy-laden facts from second-best friend Reg to help solve the crime. And, of course, she can always rely on handy hints from her favorite TV show of all time – Miss Walsham Investigates!
