Hot off the Press #1

News from Karen’s Writing Desk

I love getting author’s newsletters and receive several different ones. I enjoy getting to know the authors I love to read. It also helps me find new books by having them come to me, instead of me finding them.

Each month end, I’ll send out my hot off the press news and a newsletter is never complete without a few selected books from other authors. These will always be those I’ve read and enjoyed.

Play the Game, a romantic novella, and Distant Time are in the final stages of editing. Both have been previously published, now rewritten with brand new covers. Distant Time, a small time travel story, doesn’t have a cover yet, but I’ve already chosen the elements for it.

I’ve been writing a thousand words a day on a story A Hand to Hold. I’m eager to get the first draft laid down because I’ve something exciting coming up associated with it. I’ll share more next month.

At the end of last year we had three new authors come onboard and we are working to get their books published under our brand. Mary Elizabeth Jackson, and her co-writer Thornton Cline. Also, D. A. Northop has his first middle grade book going through edits, and finally Diann Floyd Bohmn, has joined us in January.

Here are my book recommendations:

Starved for love and fearing time is running out, attorney Tally Abram seeks the aid of her gay best friends, Lex and Ishkode Ackerman, in fathering the children she desperately wants. Will they comply? Will Tally find the family she craves? Or will her need for completion destroy the most important relationships in her life?

This book explores the ideas of family structure, tri-parenting, and polyamorous relationships. It contains mature material and is not suitable for those under 18 years of age.

A missing couples report and a mutilated body.
Two years apart, same house.
Coincidence or something more sinister?

When Lt. Flynn lands a missing couples case, he finds no evidence of anything amiss. There are no signs of a struggle or foul play. The only clue lies in a dog-eared notebook, but is it true?

Two years later, a mutilated body is found in the same residence. Lt. Carter is assigned the case, and now, he’s faced with a life-altering decision. Can he afford to ignore the evidence that Sgt Alvarez reveals to him – the same evidence that led to his partner’s disappearance?

How many people will die before Carter brings the truth to light? Who will believe in the existence of a genetically manipulated monster?

Following the untimely passing of her godmother, Laura finds herself the benefactor of a picturesque seaside B&B.

She’s soon plunged into the life of hospitality, catering for the needs of her eclectic guests, with help from her vibrant and fun-loving friend, Amy. However, the cosy seaside lifestyle she hopes for is soon dominated by her mischievous pup, an unwelcome ex-boyfriend, seaside storms and the search for long-lost family. If her new life isn’t

challenging enough, she also has a battle on her hands against her own emotions, as the brooding, handsome village vet upsets her cosy applecart.

The Coven Murders opens with a horrifying account of a ritual Black Mass with a human sacrifice in an abandoned church.

Twenty-one years later, near an old ruined church in an area of outstanding natural beauty, Chief Inspector Sheehan and his team discover the skeleton of a young woman.

But what seems initially to be a straightforward case, brings the team into conflict with a powerful Satanist who has plans to offer up to Satan another human sacrifice on the evening of the great Illuminati feast of Lughnasa. Several murders occur, baffling the Inspector until he makes a connection between the modern murders and the twenty-one year old skeleton.

The team’s pursuit of the murderer, and their determination to protect a young woman who is targeted by the coven, lead to a horrific climax in a hellish underground crypt where Sheehan and his team, supported by an exorcist and a bishop, attempt to do battle with the coven and a powerful demon of Baphomet, jeopardising not only their lives, but risking the wrath of Satan upon their immortal souls
