Salute to British Writer C S Lewis

This was sitting in my drafts and should have posted a few days ago.

Born this day in 1898, Charles Staples Lewis wrote over thirty books that are read by millions of people. Lewis is also known for his work on medieval literature, and his Christian apologetics.

Three of his works of fiction were turned into films. The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe in 2005, Prince Caspian in 2008, and The Voyage of the Dawn Treader in 2010. Collectively they grossed over a billion pounds worldwide.

My favourite book is The Lion, the Witch, and The Wardrobe. As a child, it really captured my imagination. My grandparents had similar large furniture in their bedroom. I recall my brother and me opening the door, and pushing the clothes aside to check if there was a secret panel.

Lewis has a website and I wondered who maintained it seeing as he died in 1963. At the bottom, it said copyright, Harper Collins. There was a blog, but that hasn’t been updated since 2020. Most of the articles are religious and the about section said this:

This blog offers original work on and about C. S. Lewis from scholars who have written far and wide about his stories, his theology, and his world. HarperOne also posts updates about new products and promotions. We add new entries regularly and we encourage your comments and feedback so we can develop a helpful, thoughtful and entertaining resource for you.

The website is pretty cool especially if you are a huge fan of Lewis’ works.

Celebrate the birthday of C S Lewis by reading one his books.
