This is a first for my blog as I’m reviewing a book that I didn’t finish. My rule of thumb is that I only read books I enjoy. If I don’t enjoy it, then I don’t read it. Yet, I stopped reading this one halfway through.
So you’ll want to know why and why am I reviewing it. Good question. I suppose because this isn’t a bad book. The author is a writer with style and knows her subject matter well. I didn’t find any errors in the book either, and I often do.
The story starts with girl meets boy kind of thing. Girl really fancies boy, but can’t have him. Boy actually likes girl. I loved the idea of him buying jelly beans and Chardonnay to show how he feels. Then, the way they got together was really nice. But this all happened within the first quarter of the book. My Kindle was telling me I had another five hours of reading and there was no hook. I almost put it down, but glad I didn’t. I kept going. There were some interesting turns in the erotica department, including something new to me, but I’m not going to let on what that it!
The two main characters had some great sex, and she was holding back something. That was then revealed and put to bed, so to speak, and still a few hours left of reading, I couldn’t see where it was going. There was nothing for me to find out as everything had been revealed. I kept going. A few twists and turns and more great sex, well for the main characters that it. I think I was becoming a little bored if I’m honest. There was nothing to keep turning the page for the climax – if you’ll pardon the pun.
The potential next step began to appear with a shooting and an enemy at the door. But by then, I didn’t really care.
So why am reviewing it? Just because I didn’t care for it much doesn’t mean it’s not a good book. If you are an erotica fan, you will love this. The hero is a great bad boy and the girl is damaged but recovering. Worth a read and if you do, I’d love to hear your thoughts on it.
