A Cry in the Night

A romantic novellab

To the entire world, Rick had it all—rock stardom, fame, and a fortune that would make anyone envious; however, inside, he felt the relentless burn of exhaustion and disillusionment.

On the edge of a breakdown, the weight of his depression beats him down. He seeks refuge in an isolated shore side hideaway.

Drowning his sorrows in alcohol. The salty air does little to clear his clouded mind.

But he is not alone. Gemma is in the apartment below, a lonesome, solitary figure, who sparks his curiosity.

Inevitably, the two meet as they face their inner battles together

Past and future collide in this romantic story of heartache, passions and futures.

A man on the edge of a nervous breakdown. A woman trying to be strong. Both have come to the beachside apartments to bring sense to their lives.

Can love save them?

As Rick sat at the piano playing random songs, he knew he didn’t want to be a five-album wonder. Writing new music was important. Could he have burned himself out at twenty-eight?

Energy had been on the road for a long time. The band’s drummer, Kenny Wildwood, had already taken a dive six months ago. Complete exhaustion, they said. Jake’s marriage folded, and Eddy frequently blew his top as if living on a short fuse.

Did he drive them too hard? Did he demand too much?

Rising to his feet, Rick wandered over to the window and stared outside at the panoramic view. His mind was far away.

What had he earned for his life? Money? Stardom? But what about love? He was always working, always on the road; he couldn’t have a proper relationship.
